Clients - St. Louis Schools
From 1999 to 2003 the Collaborative worked with several inner city St. Louis public middle and elementary schools on the implementation of Different Ways of Knowing, one of the CSR whole school reform initiatives the Collaborative delivers to educators over a minimum of three years. Collaborative coaches worked intensively with St. Louis teachers to incorporate the Show Me Standards into their annual curricular planning and professional growth plans as well as alignment of the standards to the Different Ways of Knowing model.
Utilizing the Collaborative's Standards-Based Planning Model, our coaches also used the Show Me standards as the basis for helping teachers understand and create a standards-based teaching and learning environment for their school. The desire to understand and incorporate best practices is leading to the growth and improvement of individual teacher practice in the classroom.
Standards-based instructional practice is a hot button issue in today's world of school reform. The development of a standards-based culture in schools is being pushed by an ever-increasing call for accountability. Virtually every state in the nation has designed content-specific standards for what children must know and be able to show they know. Local standards are also being designed in accordance to state and national standards. The Collaborative specializes in helping teachers understand and develop a standards-based teaching and learning culture.
