Clients - Kentucky Department of Education

From 2002 to present, The Collaborative is working with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to develop a Guide to Reflective Classroom Performance that will be piloted and used with Kentucky teachers to support their understanding of best practice and their ability to accurately reflect on their own professional learning needs. The guide will help teachers become reflective and responsive learners, and to make better-informed decisions about professional development, based on their own professional needs.

Beginning spring 2005, the KDE will also pilot a new tool developed by the Collaborative for Teaching and Learning called Closing the Gap. This district and school resource is designed to provide leaders with ways to understand achievement gap issues and practical steps to begin discussing these issues in light of race, socioeconomic and disability. The first pilot will take place with training provided by the Collaborative for 20 Kentucky Highly Skilled Educators and GAP Coordinators statewide.
