Clients - Council on Postsecondary Education and GEAR UP Kentucky
Since 2003 the Collaborative has worked with GEAR UP Kentucky on two initiatives: 1) Cohort II of the Middle Grades Research/Demonstration Project, and 2) leadership development for school and district leaders and for GEAR UP staff. In both instances, the Collaborative has contributed to identifying common ground between state reform goals and the goals of GEAR UP Kentucky. The purpose of the leadership development work has been to create and implement a set of program standards for creating a college-going culture in GEAR UP schools and districts.
The Collaborative for Teaching and Learning is also working in partnership with the Council on Postsecondary Education and GEAR UP Kentucky, the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, the Kentucky Department of Education and other state-level agencies, on the implementation of the Go Higher Kentucky: College Access for All campaign. This campaign is designed to build college-going cultures within Kentucky middle and high schools by engaging community partners in comprehensive long-range planning.
GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded project, under the auspices of the National Council on Community and Education Partnerships, aimed at increasing the number of poor and minority students who attend college. In Kentucky, the Council on Post-Secondary Education administers GEAR UP.
