Clients - Kentucky Arts Council
Currently, the Collaborative is conducting the first ever-statewide survey on the status of arts education in Kentucky public schools. The survey project, funded by the KAC, will provide a snapshot of the condition of arts education in schools across the commonwealth. The final report developed by the Collaborative will enable planning to occur among several state and local-level arts and educations organizations to better meet the needs of schools.
From 2001 to 2004 the Collaborative worked closely with Kentucky Arts Council (KAC) staff to design and implement new organizational practices based on a standards-based continuous progress model developed by the Collaborative. This long-term project involved the complete re-structuring of all KAC grant program guidelines, panel processes and interim and final reporting procedures for the state agency. The project also focused on assisting KAC staff with developing their own professional growth plans to inform professional development needs of individuals.
Other projects with the KAC involved the Collaborative in the design and implementation of the School-Community Arts Partnership Planning (SCAPP) grants; a grant category to enable schools to partner with local arts, cultural, business, civic and government organizations to co-develop plans for the infusion of the arts in education. The Collaborative also consulted the KAC on the planning of early childhood arts education initiatives. This work lead to the ArtStart! grant program that places professional artists in childcare facilities statewide.
