The Collaborative for Teaching and Learning is a non-profit, tax
exempt corporation founded in 1994 to aid Kentucky elementary schools
in the implementation of comprehensive school reform. The organization
fills a critical need for an independent entity that can quickly
and effectively provide professional development for teachers seeking
assistance in implementing the new student-centered teaching, learning,
and assessment practices.
Since 1994 the Collaborative has gained a reputation for effective
and results-oriented work with schools. To date the organization
has worked with more than 6,500 teachers in close to 400 elementary
and middle schools in Kentucky and Missouri. In addition, Collaborative
staff have conducted teacher training and coaching at schools in
New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Louisiana, Florida
and the Virgin Islands. The work of the organization has evolved
to include delivery and support of nationally designed and custom
designed reform initiatives, and now targets middle grades and higher
education as well as elementary.
